While Amy Spanier has cultivated a decades-long career as a successful interior designer, art has been her lifelong passion. “I’ve always been drawn to discovering unique and compelling pieces for my clients,” she explains. “I’ve been curating art as an integral part of my design practice for more than 40 years, seeking out exceptional works through my close relationships with local artists, from emerging to established. Just like the interiors I design, the art I curate is meant to be eclectic and thoughtfully layered. Often, a single piece—whether it’s a painting, sculpture or even a rug—becomes the inspiration for an entire room.”
Over the years, Spanier has successfully launched two vibrant contemporary art galleries, with her latest endeavor, IDEA Gallery, opening its doors in early 2025 to Atlanta’s historic Miami Circle Arts District. “I want people to feel the art,” she says of the new space, where she represents over 50 local and international talented artists. “I’ve always imagined a gallery that feels like home—somewhere you step into and instantly feel a sense of connection. There’s a visceral, almost instinctive reaction that goes beyond just seeing the art. It’s about experiencing it on a deeper, emotional level. That’s the essence of IDEA Gallery.”
